How to Verify Your Google Business Profile

Verifying your Google Business Profile confirms to Google that your business is real and that you manage it. Until verified, your profile may have limited visibility in search results.

Getting Started​

  1. Log in — Go to Google Business Profile Manager and sign in with the Google Account associated with your business.
  2. Start Verification — Select your business and click the Get Verified button.
  3. Choose a Method — Google will offer verification methods based on your business category and location. The most common method is Video Verification, though phone, email, or live video calls may also be available.
  4. Complete the Steps — Follow the on-screen instructions for your chosen method (detailed below) and wait up to 5 days for the review.

Verification Methods​

1. Business Video Recording (Most Common)​

You will need to use a mobile device to record a single, unedited video of your business. The video must clearly show:

  • Location — Street signs, nearby landmarks, and the exterior of your building with the address number.
  • Proof of Operations — Business signage, equipment, tools, inventory, or branded items (e.g., business cards).
  • Proof of Management — You physically unlocking the front door, entering your workspace, or accessing business documents.

Keep the camera steady and ensure there is enough light. Google reviewers need to clearly read your address and business name in the video.

2. Phone or Text Verification​

If you are eligible, Google will send a verification code via an automated call or text message to your registered business phone number. Enter the code directly into your profile to verify.

3. Email Verification​

Google may give you the option to receive a verification code directly at your business email address.

4. Postcard by Mail​

If available, Google will send a physical postcard with a 5-digit code to your business mailing address.

  • It usually arrives within 14 days.
  • Do not change your business name or address while waiting for the postcard, as this will restart the process.

What Happens Next?​

After submitting your verification, Google will review your information. You will be notified by email once the review is complete. If approved, your Business Profile will become fully active and eligible to appear in Google Search and Maps.
